Reproductive Barriers:
Prezygotic:
- Temporal Isolation- Time period for mating as a limitation
- Habitat Isolation- Spatial segregation
- Behavioral Isolation- Difference in courtship rituals
- Mechanical Isolation- Anatomically different sexual organs
- Gametic Isolation- Gametes will not form a zygote
Postzygotic:
- Hybrid Inviability: Hybrid offspring die before maturity
- Hybrid sterility- Hybrid offspring are sterile or infertile
Types of Speciation:
Allopatric Speciation- physical boundaries seperate populations
Sympatric Speciation- populations mixed in location, but unable to breed
